The entire process from start to finish is done in one day. Jim LeMieux, owner and technician comes in and thoroughly cleans and sands the countertops as the first step in his method. He repairs chips, scratches and fills in seams. He carefully covers cabinets and other kitchen fixtures with paper and tape. A considerable amount of time is spent preparing the countertop properly. When all is ready he sprays 5–6 layers of three different coating in colors of your choosing. ReSurface Pros can match any color you want. If you want a solid color or the more popular “stone” or “speckled” look with 3–4 different colors is up to you. Many people get samples from a local home center. Jim can match the colors inside the sample. So if you are trying to capture some colors already in your floors or walls, here´s your solution. These colors are custom for you. A high gloss clear topcoat adds depth to the countertop, giving it a miracle glow, similar to granite. A flat finish (no gloss) is more similar to Corian. The durability of a refinished countertop is comparable to a laminate. It has a heat threshold of 550 degrees. But we recommend using pot holders or cutting boards, just like the manufacturer would recommend.
